This assignment included experimenting with composition in photos. It taught us how to identify various elements of composition such as rule of thirds, depth of field, pattern, symmetry, etc. Students were told to take photos around the school and learn to upload the photos. Students could also try using photoshop to edit photos we took. This assignment's purpose was to get students used to a camera and become familiar with its basic settings, as well as practice setting up photos using composition rules.
Rule of ThirdsThis photo shows a picture of my friend standing in a hallway at our school.
PatternThis is a picture of water bottles lined up on the top row in a vending machine.
SymmetryThis photo is of my shoes on the tile in a staircase at our school.
TextureThis picture shows the grooves and edges in a brick wall.
Depth of FieldThis image draws attention to a section of a concrete wall that is in focus, while the rest of the image is slightly blurred.
LinesThis photo shows the lines in a picnic table leading to the trees and sunset across the field.
FramingThis image is of my friend in a brick doorway by the auditorium.
PerspectiveThis is a picture taken from a balcony looking down at my friend in the hallway.
SpaceThis photo shows a light switch on a plain white brick wall.
BalanceThis image shows a silhouette of a tree against a colorful sunrise.
ColorThis photo was taken by a railing on a balcony where there were colorful shoelaces tied.
From this project, I learned more about different elements in taking a good photo. I didn't know a lot about framing, perspective, and space before this project. I really enjoyed this assignment because it was fun, yet it was also very informational at the same time. I felt like I had enough time to take photos, upload them, and choose my favorite pictures.
